How to get to the ski resorts from Santiago

Shared bus, private van or your own car: times, costs and the famous 40 switchbacks up to Farellones.

It is about 35 km from Santiago to Farellones, but the G-21 road climbs over 2,000 metres through 40 numbered switchbacks. The drive takes 1h15 to 2h depending on traffic and snow.

Shared bus

The cheapest option: early departure from fixed points in Santiago, return in the afternoon. Ideal for solo travellers and couples.

VIP transport

Private door-to-door van with flexible timing and room for equipment. Recommended for families, groups and SCL airport transfers.

Your own car

Between June and September the police require chains or 4x4. The road also has one-way time windows, so check the schedule before leaving.
