The ski season in the central Andes usually starts between mid-June and early July and runs until late September or early October, depending on that year's snowfall.
Month by month
June: partial opening, fewer people and lower rates. July: Chilean school holidays, a busy mountain and the best snow base. August: the favourite window for experienced skiers, good snow and shorter lines. September: long sunny days and spring snow that is perfect for beginners.
When to buy
Early-rate tickets sell out first on weekends and public holidays. Booking at least a week ahead locks in both price and availability, especially in July.
